EA Sports UFC Demo: 10 Broken Things EA Must Fix Before Release

6. Effortless KO/TKOs

For EA UFC€™s demo we can play as either Alexander Gustafsson or Jon Jones €“ the two cover stars and rivals for the 205-lbs championship. In our findings from playing a full copy of the game at EA HQ as well in some of the gameplay videos published on Youtube, it seems that a knockout can be achieved too easily in the game, often coming from an unlikely uppercut or a soft looking left-hook €“ this was a pitfall fell into by all of the preceding MMA games we have seen. Neither Jones nor Gustafsson has ever been KO€™d in their careers so to have it occur easily in the game just doesn€™t seem plausible €“ indeed Jon Jones has barely been hit other than in his fight with Alexander. This frequent one punch KO just doesn€™t seem to make sense with EA€™s aim of making this game as realistic as possible. EA have implemented a durability rating as well as special endurance abilities which should prevent fighters with solid chins from being knocked down effortlessly, but this still doesn€™t seem to have prevented Jon Jones and Gustafsson from having the chin of Chuck Liddell circa 2010.
