VR Karts is the sort of kart racer you remember from years gone by. You drive forward, turning left or right to get round obstacles, picking up power-ups and riding over speed boosts. On the surface, not particularly special - however, the amount of synchronisation between the game and the VR software means that this little gem definitely makes the list. Playing at EGX, gamers would sit in a chair and play using pedals and a steering wheel connected into the computer, adding to the sense of immersion. When a player turned to look behind them, they saw the karts trailing in their wake. The novelty of being able to look around a track, unrestrained from a set third-person camera is an incredibly satisfying experience and one that, if VR becomes more commonplace, we should all be looking forward to.
