The Darksiders series is the underdog you can’t put down.

The original launched to an underrated reception in 2010, giving us a dark twist on Zelda that you didn’t know you wanted. The franchise then survived THQ collapsing, plus two underselling (if enjoyable) main instalments.

Now Gunfire Games is putting a new spin on the franchise by flipping it into a top-down co-op action fest.

It’s a leftfield direction to take after past entries focused on a steadfast formula; loyalist might be put off, but if the gameplay works…this could make a big splash in a quiet month.
