Confirmed by Bungie in a weekly news article, 2017 is the year for Destiny II, otherwise known as "The one we'll actually get right."

It goes without saying that the original Destiny was a complete mess from start to finish, but some behind-the-scenes happenings actually revealed there was originally a far more in-depth campaign planned, which was scrapped by Bungie's higher-ups mere months before launch.
With the team forever on the back foot, assembling DLC and patches to cobble together what could arguably be seen as a 'full game' now, all eyes are on Destiny II as the realisation of all those waylaid plans.
