Fallout 4: 10 Things It Will Do Better Than Everyone Else

By Rob Thubron /

1. The Combat

As good as the combat is in the Fallout series, there's still room for improvement. The excellent VATS system - where combat switches to turn-based and individual body parts can be targeted - will almost certainly return; new and improved. For those who aren't a fan of turn-based combat, preferring instead to use the real-time first/third person views, this will also likely be changed and improved upon from the previous games. The real-time combat was one of the few areas Fallout 3 and New Vegas received criticism for, with some players stating it wasn't as enjoyable as the turn-based system, and perhaps the game should of stuck to using only VATS. So expect Fallout 4 to finally get the series' mixture and real-time and turn-based combat perfect. When going up against the Witcher 3 - remembering that combat was so good in part 2 that it got its own separate gameplay mode - the developers know they need to pull out all the stops. And with a doubtless increase in the enemy AI - something else that previous games didn't always get right - the combat could be the standout feature of Fallout 4, and the thing really that sets it apart from the competition. What other features do you think Fallout 4 will do better than everyone else? Sound off in the comments thread below...
