However based on last years performance where he almost single-handedly carried Arsenal to Champions League qualification whilst scoring more goals than any other player in the league and winning player of the year; surely he should be the highest rated player? Not only does he score goals more naturally than any other player in the league, potentially even the world, but he is a solid captain, a great player of the ball and creates goals as well as scores them. Yet you can bet that Rooney will have the highest Premier League rating; and after Rooneys moderately embarrassing start to the campaign which saw him dropped and then injured, is such a decision even merited? Rooney has had a reputation for being the worlds best since he was 18, yet that shouldnt overshadow the fact that Van Persie is one of the best players in the world and should be referred to as such in the comparisons to the Premier League.
