If Mario Gomez was truly an 85-calibre striker why on earth would Bayern who have a scarce selection of forwards as it is release him to Serie A side Fiorentina? That's not to say that Gomez is not a quality striker: he has appeared just three times in the league for Fiorentina due to a persisting injury and has scored in two of these games. However, a rating of 85 ranks him as one of the best strikers in the world, level with the likes of Karim Benzema, Marco Reus and Ezequiel Lavezzi. In his heyday a few years ago at Bayern his name would belong among these current superstars but as it stands Gomez ability does not warrant 85. Thankfully for Fiorentina, Italian-American forward Giuseppe Rossi is making up for Gomez's absence and then some.
