FIFA 15: 10 Missing Legends Who EA Must Include

By Sam Heard /

7. Peter Schmeichel

Suggested Rating €“ 90 With the likes of Jens Lehmann, David Seaman and Edwin van der Sar making the cut to join the prestigious ranks of FIFA€™s Legends, we can deduce that Peter Schmeichel€™s exclusion from FUT isn€™t because EA has something against goalkeepers. It seems like a peculiar choice that EA should include van der Sar over fellow Manchester United veteran Schmeichel as €“ when compared head-to-head €“ the Great Dane€™s record is better. Not only was his 8-season tenure at Old Trafford longer than that of van der Saar but his record was statistically better, holding the greatest clean sheets-to-games ratio of any goalkeeper in the Premier €˜s history with 42% of his league games ending without conceding a goal. Schmeichel ended his career with United on an incredible high in their 1998/99 treble winning season and played a massive role in providing this unequalled success. He captained the team in that now-legendary Champions League final when United won the tie against Bavarian giants Bayern Munich after trailing 1-0 well into the dying embers of the game. In the same season he also saved a penalty kick from Dennis Bergkamp (who is himself featured in FIFA 14€™s selection of Legends) in the final minutes of the FA Cup final to send the tie into extra time. The success experienced by Kasper Schmeichel this season proves that world-class goalkeeping is in the Schmeichel€™s genetics.
