Having played a grand total of 14 league games last year, Sturridge can probably count himself lucky not to have been downgraded. He may have scored 8 goals in that time, but being out with so many injuries is a sure-fire way of getting yourself noticed for all the wrong reasons.

He's not the most creative of strikers either, offering only 7 chances to team-mates when he was on the pitch. But he's still classed as one of England's brightest attacking options, so you can perhaps understand the reluctance to punish him too much.
