5. Cloud's Punisher Counter Is A Godsend (AVOID The Counterstance Ability)

Cloud's countering capabilities might be the best in all of gaming - or rather, the easiest.

Just hold R1 and tap triangle to go into his Punisher parry stance (block when in that stance already), and when anything other than magic hits you, he'll automatically strike in return.

Key to defeating Sephiroth - more on him later - you can trigger the Counterstance ability to add an elemental effect to the blow.

Whilst many have found success with this, I find you're better keeping ATB bars for Triple Slash and Focused Thrust, countering whatever comes your way with a standard Punisher block every time.
