Five Nights At Freddy's Being Adapted Into A Movie

Dark gaming series coming to the silver screen.

By Brendon Connelly /

As far as video game adaptations go, Five Nights at Freddy's Seems like a brilliant idea for the silver screen treatment. The game series is about what goes on in the dark at Chuck-E-Cheese style themed restaurants, populated by evil, killer animatronic animals. They're as natural a choice for big screen horror fare as any clown, doll or lunatic in a mask. Five Nights is not the most fun game to play, nor are any of the sequels, but if you do put on headphones and turn off the light, you'll probably give yourself a jump or two. The 'monsters' look something like stuffed toys by way of The Terminator, almost as if they've been left in a skip to harbour resentment then armed with horrible things to hurt us with, and just knowing they're out there puts me on edge. I don't know if you've ever seen one of the 'shows' in a Chuck E Cheese or, as it was in the 80s, Showbiz Pizza Place, but they are unnerving stuff. Something like Five Nights at Freddy's was always going to come along sooner or later, and I'm a little surprised that there was a video game on this theme rather than a movie. Sleeping on the job, again, Hollywood? According to THR, no writers have been booked for the film just yet, but whoever gets the gig will have a lot of good material to play with. Don't be surprised if Freddy Fazbear gets a name change, though - Fazbear might be a little too Muppety for the lawyers. Here's a trailer for the game.Brrr. I'm glad I just watched that in full sunlight.
