Football Manager 2014: 13 Ludicrous Ratings SI Need To Fix

By Simon Gallagher /

3. Peter Crouch's Jumping

In FM13, Stoke's giant striker Peter Crouch was given a 20 for his jumping rating, meaning the game scouts clearly believed he could jump to the moon in a single bound, given how eye-wateringly tall he is. That obviously ignores the fact that Crouch is comparatively terrible in the air: he is almost comically suited to the idiom €œgood feet for a big man€ and his record in the air is awful for a man who has been crowned the Premier League's tallest player for most of his top level career. The reality is that Crouch actually gets smaller when he €œjumps,€ making a 20 rating laughably misjudged. What Are The Chances? Common sense, or just simple judgement must surely come into play sooner or later: Crouch never scores 10 or more headed goals a season. He is not that sort of player, mostly thanks to the fact that he cannot jump, and his heading ability is significantly impeded because of that.
