2. Maarten Vandevoordt (Genk)

It was a toss-up for the first two spots in this list, but ultimately the second place belongs to a goalkeeper well-known to all Football Manager players.

Maarten Vandevoordt has been an FM gem for a couple of editions of the game now, and it's no different in FM22. In fact, he is now arguably better than ever, having established himself as the clear-cut number one at Genk.

In the game's database, he is as well-rounded and complete as they come at his age. A true example of a modern sweeper-keeper, Vandevoordt can really play football. He can pass it deftly with both feet, he can carry it out himself, or he can kick it long and accurate.

That's not to say he lacks in the traditional goalkeeping department. His instincts are great, he is capable of claiming crosses, closing down strikers, and being quick on his feet. Add to that a tremendous work rate and winning mentality, he just about ticks every box.

The scariest thing is that he is only 19 at the start of the game, so there is, if you can believe it, still room for him to grow and become even better. For a price of £9.2 - 28 million, you could be buying a future star of the game.
