Fornite: Battle Royale Hits 10 Million Players, Epic Reveals
There's even a snazzy infographic to go with the news.
Fortnite: Battle Royale, the free-to-play add-on to Epic Games' multiplayer survival game, has reached 10 million players in two weeks.
Launching late in September, the game is the first battle royale experience on consoles, and it seems the demand is certainly there, managing to hit 1 million players on launch day alone. Just a week ago, the game was at 3.7 million players, with a peak of over 500,000.
Epic released an infographic detailing some of the game's larger statistics. For instance, 44.5 million hours of Fortnite: Battle Royale have been played, while 292.7 million players have jumped out of the Battle Bus - the method of starting a game.
While the game is completely free, Epic Games has plans to bring cosmetic items and progression to the game in the coming weeks. Duos - the ability to play with a partner - was added last week. Fortnite: Battle Royale's release hasn't been entirely smooth however, with the game coming under fire from PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds developer BlueHole, who felt concerned that Fortnite was too similar to their own game.
BlueHole's Chang Han Kim said in a press release: "After listening to the growing feedback from our community and reviewing the gameplay for ourselves, we are concerned that Fortnite may be replicating the experience for which PUBG is known."
