9. The Dark Pictures Is Until Dawn's Spiritual Successor

Supermassive Games

Until Dawn developers Supermassive Games announced their next project, a horror anthology franchise called The Dark Pictures, which will release a number of games under the same banner.

The first of these titles is Man of Medan, which sees our gang of young protagonists exploring a sunken wreck which, inevitably, harbours some incredibly dark secrets.

Shawn Ashmore leads the ensemble cast, appearing here through the art of performance capture, in what looks like a tantalising successor to Until Dawn.

It remains to be seen whether or not these anthology titles will be shorter than Until Dawn, allowing Supermassive to release them more regularly, but considering how Until Dawn arguably outstayed its welcome by an hour or two, delivering smaller experiences at a lower price point might be the way to go.

Either way, this is both fascinating and ambitious, and if The Dark Pictures can give fans one AAA horror experience every year-or-so, this could be something very special indeed.
