Seen briefly in the launch trailer amongst all the other quick cuts, we see what could be a fully automised, A.I. workforce going up against our heroes.
Or is it?
Whilst the more close-up shots reveal a design that's far more mechanised, it makes you wonder whether we're going to be fighting humans for the first time in the series. Alternatively, look to their armoured design - it's very similar to that of that of the Gears themselves, who operated under the COG (Coalition of Ordered Governments) - the collar lighting strips below are a dead match.
It's entirely possible that with Marcus' age plays some point in the story, as maybe the newest incarnations of soldiers are just A.I., deployed to wherever they're needed, removing the human element entirely.
If Marcus has lost everything and even his skills as a soldier are replaced by advancing technology, it would give the scriptwriters some very interesting themes to play with, in regards to how this retired character fits into the 'new world'.
