Rockstar Games have announced that for the ten year anniversary of GTA III, they will be releasing the classic game on mobile devices for the first time. However, GTA III will only work on "select" mobile devices apparently because the game has relatively high hardware demands.

"Apple iOS devices older than the iPad 2 and the new iPhone (that is, with the Apple A5 chip) will not play it."
Here is a list of the mobile devices that you can play the game on:
Apple iOS devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S Android phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Samsung Galaxy S2, Motorola Atrix Android tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
In addition, Rockstar is also releasing a $150 US limited edition Claude (main character) action figure:
"a 1:6 scale articulated dress-up replica of the game's protagonist, complete with Liberty City prison jumpsuit and classic ensemble (cargo pants and bomber jacket with "working zippers"). His tiny plastic arsenal comprises a baseball bat, grenades, knife, pistol, sniper rifle, and assault rifle."
It seems a little weird to me that an industry that keeps bragging about how they will replace console gaming that only a few current mobile devices are able to run a ten year old console game. Not that I don't enjoy mobile gaming, it just goes to show that for the foreseeable future consoles will be able to provide gaming experiences that no other platform can. Will you be buying GTA for your mobile phone?
