GTA V: 10 Unfortunate Consequences Of Living In Los Santos

9. The City Is Massively In Debt To Police Widows

Moving on from (and perhaps contradicting) the previous point, I give you the city-coffers draining problem of Police widows. I know I€™ve just said that it€™s hard to kill people outside of lobotomies and decapitations, but when there€™s a whole score of ultraviolent nihilists who are acutely aware of that fact and will exploit it even/especially against the boys in blue, you€™re going to have one hell of an expensive bodycount on your hands. I know the filth can swarm an errant gunman if he€™s not careful, but it€™s honestly quite frightening how many policemen one armed goon with a plan can get through. If they take cover in an unflankable underground station, the whole thing just becomes a shooting gallery of epic, tragic proportions. If we€™re thinking too hard about this (and goddamn it, that€™s why you€™re here), you€™ve got to think that most of these officers have wives or families that€™ll be entitled to compensation for their loved ones dying on the job. And my, will there be a lot of claims. Remember, it€™s not really a gun battle in GTA until at least a large cohort of police officers have bit the dust, and each and every one of those men €“ curiously, there€™s very few women in the LSPD, but sexism takes a back seat to the murder-y personnel turnover €“ will be entitled to some sort of lump sum. Frankly, I€™m not surprised Los Santos is as poorly run as it is €“ at least 20% of the budget must be dedicated to Police compensation, and another 20% to actually keeping what seems to be an improbably vast (given the obvious job hazards) police force. When faced with such a ludicrous drain, you€™d be cutting hilarious corners too.
