Grand Theft Auto V will be released for the PC and "won't remain a console exclusive for long", according to Intel's Director of Marketing, Chris R. Silva. The PC version of predecessor GTA IV took eight months to reach the PC after being released in April 2008, but Silva doesn't think gamers will have to wait that long this time round. Speaking to Gamespot, Silva said that the open-world sandbox game won't remain a console exclusive for too much longer. He observed:
"At least with Grand Theft Auto, I don't think it'll be console exclusive very long. But that's what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content."
The ridiculously-popular GTA V launched on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles on September 17, but to date, publishers Rockstar have yet to confirm whether the smash-hit title will release onto the PC. And Silva believes this is because, as he puts it, "Somebody paid a lot of money to make sure that title was exclusive." Since its launch, GTA V has generated more than $1 billion, smashing seven Guinness World Records in the process, including highest grossing video game in 24 hours. Its multiplayer mode, Grand Theft Auto Online, was later released on October 1, but has been beset by problems. In the same interview, Silva bemoaned Microsoft's decision to launch the Halo series as a console exclusive. No Halo game has been released on the PC since Halo 2, which Silva believes "hurts" the brand.
