GTA VI: 10 Reasons It Must Return To Vice City

From Scarface-style mansions to the scorching Miami sun. Come on Rockstar!

Of all the rumours swirling around GTA VI, one of the most recurrent is that the game will take us back to 1980s Vice City. In the traditional pattern of GTA games it seems like the most likely scenario, as each generation of the series has revolved around the cities/regions of Liberty City, San Andreas and Vice City. But there are plenty more reasons to revisit VC than just fusty old 'tradition'. In countless online polls asking which entry was the most loved by fans, it's always ranked high, just behind GTA V's majestic vision of San Andreas. With its nostalgically pink-and-green aesthetic, radio stations reflecting what the diverse epoch of 80s music and tributes to flamboyant Brian De Palma crime movies like Carlito's Way and Scarface, Vice City was perhaps the most unique GTA city of them all. Rockstar has parodied the 21st century to perfection, which is precisely why they should leave it alone for a while; let culture change a bit, let society become even more absurd, then come back to poke fun at it later. In the meantime, fans would love nothing more than to see one of the most loved cities in video games get a current-gen makeover. So take us back, Rockstar. Back to the Vice City, where the sun is warm and the neon lights are pretty...
