Hades: 10 Reasons You MUST Play Supergiant's New Rogue-Like

2. The Music

Hades wouldn't be the same without the utterly enthralling score by Darren Korb (audio director and voice of Zagreus and Skelly, and Orpheus' singing voice). The battles wouldn't be half as satisfying, nor the exploration of the setting half as enjoyable, without the scores that come with them - music Korb has described as "Mediterranean prog-rock Halloween music".

Each song feels both modern yet beautifully ancient, partly due to Korb's use of a bağlama or treble bouzouki to give the songs Greek flavour. Some, however, also celebrate modern rock, with such as The Unseen Ones featuring Masahiro Aoki and Daisuke Kurosawa.

The game's more orchestral pieces were recorded in the world-famous Studio Two at Abbey Road Studios, including the grandly beautiful end credits song "In The Blood" and the emotional "On The Coast". One of the game's most memorable pieces, however, is the song "Good Riddance", which starts out as two solos - one bright and happy, sung by Ashley Barrett and one sad and melancholic, sung by Darren Korb - before coming together in a breathtaking harmonic duet.

Hades' music is as much an important part of its DNA as its art and gameplay, and all the more outstanding for it.
