HBO's The Last Of Us: 10 Things We Need To See

4. How faithful the show will be to the games

The Last of Us possesses an incomparably rich story when compared to its console-based peers. Even standout examples such as The Witcher and Red Dead Redemption 2 pale in comparison to a plotline and characters that would not be out of place in an Academy Award winning film.

With that being said, The Last of Us is first and foremost, a video game. While huge portions of the game's runtime are devoted to cutscenes that set out the plot line, the majority of the experience is spent stealthily creeping through the devastated landscape, crafting deviously violent weaponry and bashing the bejesus out of anyone unfortunate enough to find themselves in the path of our protagonists.

As such, while the show can be expected to be hugely faithful to the cutscene portions of the game, it is inevitable that a degree of poetic license will have to be utilized in part to successfully transition to television screens. In addition to this, original storylines and new characters will be required to flesh out the remainder of the epic saga and justify nine full-length episodes on the world's premier television network - this is likely where exciting cast additions Melanie Lynskey and Jeffrey Pierce come into play.

Both of these intriguing notions present a thrilling prospect for any devoted fan of the games. What a time to be alive.
