If you were lucky enough to hit up E3 (or were scraping every E3 article online possible) you will know how much of a huge presence the fifth title in the Hitman series, Hitman: Absolution had. However, fans were left concerned because the direction of the game seemed to vary wildly from the direction of other Hitman titles €“ it wasn€™t that the game didn€™t look good, but it didn€™t have the same Hitman feel. Instead of being the hunter, you were now the hunted. IO Interactive took the opportunity during a NowGamer.com interview to disperse the fans concerns. Featuring game director Tore Blystad, who reassured us of the thorough scrutiny and advancements made for the new title. €œEvery game mechanic and element was scrutinized and studied, all formulas and systems were picked apart and reassembled, an entirely new engine, tool chain and pipeline created from scratch to support a more advanced and cohesive game and level design than ever before€ states Blystad, €œWe wanted a very cinematic experience but still leaving all choices to the player, so we had to create a completely new set of tools to deliver what we believe is a truly interactive cinematic experience where the game reacts dynamically top the player€™s actions to create drama€. To long-time fans of the series, Blystad muses that this title will be €œthe biggest, most diverse Hitman game ever made€ and that IO Interactive had €œset up the rules of the game, but it is up to you, the player, to decide how to play it€. He also goes on to state that €œA core value for any Hitman game is freedom of choice and we believe we are going beyond anything we have done in the past. There will be more replayability and features in Absolution than in any Hitman game ever. Most of the classic mechanics from the old games are back with a vengeance in addition to many new game mechanics, abilities and traits€. Whilst this has filled this fan with unashamed, reassured excitement towards the next instalment, will this be such a shoot off from the standard Hitman direction that it will discourage long-time fans? We€™ll find out in 2012!
