Horizon Zero Dawn: 10 Ways To Make The Frozen Wilds Perfect

3. More About Gaia's Sub-AIs

The backstory of Horizon: Zero Dawn describes the project whereby a besieged humanity created GAIA and a clutch of sub-AIs.

Their task was to crack the command codes of the robot horde, shut them down, and re-seed the Earth with life and eventually people. HADES, the extinction failsafe, is prominently featured, but the other AIs don't get nearly so much time in the spotlight. Like HADES they have personalities of their own, and with GAIA offline at the end of the game, the sub-AIs are now without anyone to guide them.

These AIs might as well be gods of Aloy's world. POSEIDON was responsible for purifying the world's oceans, commanding immense pollution-guzzling machines while HEPHAESTUS, which made the mechanical creatures that inhabit the world itself, went bonkers to begin the derangement of the formerly placid metal beasts.

Aloy could interact with these AIs as allies or enemies, seek them out to learn their secrets or keep them from turning rogue, or explore the various facilities dedicated to each one. The story possibilities created by this branch of the game's plotline would be perfect to mine when advancing the plot in The Frozen Wilds.
