Incredible Battlefield 1 Trailer Confirms World War 1 Rumours
"You can bring a horse to a tank fight."
Ooh boy, 2016's fourth quarter is going to be mighty interesting. Not only is Call of Duty heading to space with the very negatively-received Infinite Warfare, but now Battlefield are rewinding the clock further back than ever, taking you to World War 1 this October.
The 21st of October to be precise, as a new trailer has dropped for what is simply titled 'Battlefield 1'. Initially looking to have quite a strange art direction, what with caped soldiers, sky-filling zeppelins and both tanks and horses on the battlefield itself, EA have simply mentioned that such things were all taken from real accounts of warfare, as you have to ask yourself; how much do you really know about World War 1?
As a setting it's seldom been used in any big budget video games, with the nearest notable standout being 2014's Valiant Hearts: The Great War. To that end, a quote from The Verge's writeup on the trailer confirms such potential absurdities as fact,
"WWI marked the last major conflict in which horses provided any strategic advantage, although the animal's use was largely phased out in favor of tanks and other vehicles over the course of the battle."
Needless to say, the close of 2016 is going to see its own 'great war', as we'll literally get to see through sales alone whether first-person shooter fans favour sci-fi or old-school combat.
What side are you on? Battlefield or Call of Duty? Old-school or future warfare? Let us know in the comments, and just for fun, you can't say 'both'!
