Injustice 3: Things It Must Learn From Mortal Kombat 11

7. Fix The Towers

The Living Towers were once a fun arcade mode for Mortal Kombat, in which you could play through ten fights with your Kombatant of choice and get a little story for each. In 2019 they're a highly monetised game mode that aims to extract money from you, because of course they are.

To be fair to NetherRealm, the Towers are better now than they were upon release, but they still have quite a bit of room for improvement. It's unclear if there is any way to properly fix the Towers, at least in regards to Mortal Kombat 11, because they're kinda broken at their core.

They're designed around loot, but it takes way too long to get any loot worth grinding for. And that's not even talking about the awful consumable system, it just needs to go.

Injustice 3 can learn a lot from the mistakes made here; make the arcade portion of the game more streamlined. Take away the confusing mess of consumables, make it feel less predatory, and NetherRealm is obviously going to keep the loot system, so just make it more rewarding.

Rather than get that extra buck from players, make the experience worthwhile and they will come back.
