Is PlayStation VR's First Big Game The Getaway 3?

Watch the first gameplay footage of The Getaway: London Heist running on PlayStation VR.

Remember The Getaway, Sony's little photo-realistic PS2 gem that convinced an entire generation they were walking London's streets with 100% accuracy? It looks to be back, and we can bring you footage from EGX 2015 of us going hands-on with what - for now - is easily one of PlayStation VR's highlights. As you can see, the sequence is heavily scripted to highlight the features of the headset itself, however that means you're free to look and move around in real time, do things like grab a drink out the car's holder, 'interact' (read: slap) your driver - and better yet, reload and fire weapons. The last Getaway game was Black Monday, 2004's followup to the 2002 original. For whatever reason this sophomore effort didn't catch on anywhere near as much as the first, but Sony and PlayStation fans have championed the idea of a gritty, London-based GTA-style crime game ever since. As such, The Getaway 3 has been teased and shown in various conceptual stages and through interviews, but we've not seen anything running until now. In part of our interview with Dave Ranyard, head of Sony's London studio, we probed him as to whether this demo is an indication of a full Getaway game coming in the future. He had this to say,
" a great game that came out 13 years ago, so the things that we are working on will be available on PlayStation VR. How they'll be available and what format exactly, we're still working out those things, so we'll be able to say more about that before the launch of PlayStation VR."
I'm calling it right now - The Getaway will make its grand return as PlayStation VR exclusive. What do you make of the demo? Would you be excited for a full Getaway game on PS4? Let us know in the comments!
