If you were watching Nintendo at E3, either the main press conference or the Nintendo Direct videos, you will definitely have seen that Nintendo brought a Black version of their new system to the show. In fact, the black version was shown more prominently by Nintendo than the white. With this being the case, you might be forgiven for assuming that the console would be launching in black as well as the previously shown white. Trying to work out if the console would launch in black or not has been already been a journey with several twists. Nintendo reps at the show were telling people that the black system would Wii U will launch in white, with black coming someday, but many people have argued that the fact Nintendo only showed off the Wii U Pro Controller in black suggests it as a launch colour. The latest update to this mystery comes in the form of a retail listing that suggests the dual colour launch is going to happen. US retailer Best Buy are listing the console in both black and white versions. This might seem like speculation based on E3, but the fact that the black version wasn't listed until a week after the white one might be a suggestion that they have received official information that lead them to believe a black system would come at launch. It's equally possible that this is just them trying to predict the launch and us reading too much into it, but only time will tell. Although Nintendo is currently being very secretive about its launch date and price, they are telling consumers that they should expect to be "pleasantly surprised". What do you think of this? Would you be disappointed if the console only launched in white? Which colour would you ideally get the system in? Would black help the console appeal to the core gamer market?
