Mark Hamill's Joker Is Back For Batman: Arkham VR

BE The Bat... For A Lot Of Money

Say what you want about Rocksteady's Arkham Knight, it was a thoroughly entertaining, magnificently playable gaming experience with high-notes that say everything about the developer's skill at making Batman video games. The fact that it was purported to be their last time in charge of the franchise was all the more frustrating because of how good it was (aside from the excessive Batmobile sequences admittedly).

But now it seems they weren't entirely truthful about their being done with the Arkham franchise, as we now have confirmation that Batman: Arkham VR is on its way to the PS4. In case you for some reason aren't aware, VR means Virtual Reality, meaning you'll have to fork out $400 for the Playstation VR headset, but with games like this promised, that might now be an easier sell.

So far, there's little known of the game, other than the official synopsis:

"Batman: Arkham VR immerses you in the Dark Knight's Universe and redefines what it means to Be the Batman. Experience Gotham City through the eyes of the World's Greatest Detective in an all new Arkham mystery. Think like Batman. Utilise his legendary gadgets in Virtual Reality to unravel a plot that threatens the lives of Batman's closest allies."

Remember that marketing campaign about "being the Batman" - yeah, you can actually now do that, without having to actually leave your home and like, fight people.

And marvellously, despite the fact that he's long-dead, Mark Hamill's Joker will be back, judging by the fact that he's narrating. Hopefully that means he's going to legitimately be back from the dead (and uncremated presumably also), because an Arkham game without his presence would be almost as bad as one removing Batman himself.

Here's the gloriously atmospheric teaser announcement...
