Mass Effect 3 DLC: 5 Things We’re Hoping For In The Final Update

3. A Hub World

DLC should add more to the game world than the time it takes to complete it. A huge criticism of Omega is that you go there, you fight, you come back €“ and nothing€™s changed. Sure, you have a few more war assets (but everybody€™s already got as many as they need anyway), but Aria is sitting right back on the Citadel instead of running her new empire (immediately after an emotional speech in which she promises never to leave Omega again), and you have very little to show for the four hours except for a new ability and your memories. In contrast, the much loved (and cheaper) ME2 DLC €˜The Lair of the Shadow Broker€™ gave us a permanent new area where we could talk to Liara, investigate files which greatly fleshed out the ME universe, and see the results of our struggle throughout the Shadow Broker mission. This new DLC will take place on the Citadel, so it€™s likely to give us a central €˜hub€™ where we can return again and again throughout the third game. With promises such as €œtop-secret Council Archives€ and the €œSilver Coast Casino€ in Bioware€™s recent public announcement, there€™s a lot of potential here to give us an area which helps us really care about the ME Universe again by the time of the end of the game rolls around. Let€™s hope it€™s fully developed, with lots to reward the player for repeat visits in terms of both fun and information.
