It has been confirmed today by Australian games magazine PC PowerPlay that Mass Effect 3 will have multiplayer. Multiplayer has been rumored (and hoped/dredd by different quarters) to be in Mass Effect 3 for the past year, however we still don't know what whether it will it be co-op or online competitive multiplayer? Here is an exert from the article:
"That's right - Mass Effect 3 is getting multiplayer! We travel to BioWare's office in Edmonton for hands-on time with the series' first foray into online gameplay, and chat with Mass Effect Series Producer and Mass Effect 3 Project Director Casey Hudson about the decision to go multiplayer in the epic battle for the galaxy."
I have been expecting this news to break for a while now and I hope Bioware knows what they are doing because the majority of Mass Effect fans actually don't want multiplayer in the new game. To me this is the equivalent of BioShock 2 and Dead Space 2 adding multiplayer, forcing multiplayer into a single player game that doesn't need it. I believe co-op could be fun but other wise I am not sure how well this will work and if anybody wants it. I want to hear your opinion on this, should Bioware have put multiplayer in Mass Effect 3? Will it take away from the single player aspect of the game?
