Mass Effect: 8 Ways Developers Could Produce A New Entry Worthy Of The Fanbase
2. Create A Wider Galaxy Worth Exploring
There was undeniably a hell of a lot wrong with Andromeda, but its story did have an intriguing (albeit poorly executed) premise. The idea of a group of adventurers looking to colonise new planets could’ve made for a great narrative. In this tale, the player character wasn’t “the one” as much as they were just someone looking to help humanity survive.
Given both the hardware and software advances in the games industry since 2012, a new entry could expand on the size of the galaxy that can be explored throughout its campaign. Traversing larger, semi-open-world maps would be a rewarding experience for players if done correctly. Each planet could have its own personality with different enemies, side quests, environmental effects, secrets to find and so on.
Looking back at the original Mass Effect, this is something that Bioware have toyed with for years; they just failed to stick the landing. All that this aspect needs in order to thrive is the right amount of care, attention and artistic design. Well, that and getting the Mako so far to F**k that it passes F**k, travels around the entire world and gets to F**k again.
