METAL GEAR SOLID 5 Not in Development

And when it does come around to development Kojima may not actually have much to do with the project himself...

interview with Hideo Kojima in the latest Official PlayStation Magazine that has been teased since last Friday, the Metal Gear Solid creator has told his fans they are going to have to wait a little while longer for the next numbered iteration of the franchise. In addition, when it finally does come around to development, Kojima may not actually have much to do with the project himself, as he plans to pass off the much anticipated title after reaching a certain point. Here is what Kojima had to say:

"I think we'll probably have to make it at some point, but what that will be, we have no idea, As far as my involvement in the project is concerned, probably won't be as much as it was with MGS1 €“ maybe I can do just one stage! For MGS1 I made the maps myself, laid out the enemy routes myself, did everything hands-on €“ that level I can't do again, I intended to take it to a certain point and then hand it off, but that didn't work, because it's hard to convey the concept to other people then have them take the reins and carry on and preserve that vision. That's why it's easier to have them come up with everything from the start and then take it to the end".
Sorry but it doesn't sound like we will be getting Metal Gear Solid 5 any time soon, they haven't even reached the planning stages yet so at least another three to five years or so at the earliest. And by then the game will probably need to be on the next generation of consoles which we keep hearing are at least within the next two years from being a reality. How would you view a Metal Gear Solid game at this point without Hideo Kojima? Is it unthinkable or can there be positives to come out of this?
