8. Item Management And Crafting Can Be Overwhelming

While MGS V was primarily an action-stealth experience, it also put a huge focus on inventory management, crafting and base-building. Collecting resources from missions that could be used to increase the scope of Mother Base and allow your R&D department to cook you up new toys provided a great meta hook, and it made you feel as though you were gaining strength and renown as you became more successful on the battlefield.

Survive keeps that same overwhelming level of crafting and item management, however this time it seems as though not much care and attention has been put into how these mechanics are presented. These cumbersome systems might not seem like big problems, but considering that to, you know, survive, you have to be constantly collecting all of these essential resources during missions, it ends up being a fundamental issue.

Apparently it's all presented in an unintuitive way, and while the rewards and individual systems themselves could be interesting, the game doesn't really give you a reason to care about anything you're getting or making.

Of course, this time around there are loot boxes as well, adding a whole new, potentially-insidious currency into the mix.
