Mortal Kombat 11: 8 New Gameplay Features You Need To Know

8. Augments

NetherRealm is going in heavy with customization options with Mortal Kombat 11. The news comes as little surprise to those that spent any time with Injustice 2, but even the options available in its DC brawler pale in comparison to what MKX's successor seemingly has to offer.

Every character on MK 11's roster will have three separately customizable costume components - mask, katana and spear tip for Scorpion - that, besides having varying visual appearances, will come with augment slots. Beyond confirming their existence, NetherRealm didn't go into any detail as to their functionality, but if their presence in Injustice 2 is any indication, each slot will allow the player to further tailor each character to their own preferences.

Visual changes to special moves, damage modifiers and even wholly exclusive abilities are just some of the mutators expected to be available if the system does follow suit with Injustice 2, and there's currently no reason to believe otherwise, given the obvious influence its design has had on NetherRealm's own franchise.
