As casting details begin to trickle in, it’s hard not to get excited at the thought of a potential franchise for one of the greatest video game series of all time, especially with Warrior's Joe Taslim, Sirens' Jessica McNamee, The Dark Knight's Chin Han, The Wolverine's Hiroyuki Sanada, and Thor's Tadanobu Asano already confirmed to star.

It’s also hard to believe that it’s been almost 20 years since the first Mortal Kombat movie was released. With an awesome soundtrack, great choreography, and an excellent cast, the film still stands up today.

Although its sequel isn’t met with the same admiration, many fans of the video games still stand by these two film adaptions if only to appreciate the first and only attempt to do these characters justice on the big screen. Who knows if we'll ever see (or if we even need to see) an animality on the big screen again?

With the reboot bringing in a new cast to fill these roles, we’re curious to what became of the original Mortal Kombat cast.

10. Christopher Lambert/James Remar – Raiden

Lord Raiden will once again return for Mortal Kombat, this time portrayed by Tadanobu Asano who played Hogun in the Thor trilogy. He's got some pretty big shoes to fill, stepping in after Christopher Lambert and James Remar each took a stab at the role.

After Mortal Kombat, the former reprised his most iconic movie role in Highlander: Endgame. Although Lambert will always be remembered as Connor MacLeod, he's appeared here and there in other things, most recently in The Black List.

James Remar replaced Lambert in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Though fans usually prefer Lambert to Remar as Earthrealm's protector, Remar has had a stronger career since Mortal Kombat.

Remar frequently has significant roles in TV, with Sex and the City, Dexter, Animal Kingdom, and Black Lightning among the most popular. You can also find him in films like X-Men: First Class, Blade: Trinity, Pineapple Express, Horns, Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood.
