Whilst the gameplay and roster may seem a little dated because of the newer games, the first Super Smash Bros. holds a special place in the heart of many Nintendo fans, and also managed to create a unique gameplay style that still hasn't been matched.
Including the first Super Smash Brothers on the N64 Mini could also work well for Nintendo by coming out at the same sort of time as the inevitable Super Smash Bros Switch port.
