The increasing number of three point shots per game in the NBA reached its peak last season, as teams attempted a staggering 25.1 long-range shots per game.

To compare, they made 8.4 of them, which is just 0.1 short from the 2015-16 record of 8.5. If teams made all of their shots, they would instantly have 75 points.

Although impossible, that number is nevertheless impressive. Making half of these shots is also quite reasonable, at least in NBA 2K. As devoted to realism as ever, game creators took notice of the trend and allowed for the art of the three-pointer to really blossom in this edition.

No matter if your objective is winning a championship in MyGM or dominating online competition, you need bench players who can keep on scoring when the stars are resting.

In the MyGM mode, the best players take the most of the salary cap, so it's important to have good and cheap back-ups. With the prevalence of three point shots in the modern NBA, acquiring at least one of these players leaves the gamer with a reliable offensive option.

Although rather one-dimensional, these players are the low risk high reward investments that any gamer should at least take into consideration.

8. Matt Bonner

3PT Rating: A / 70

Team: Free Agent

Contract: Minimum (No Salary Cap Hit)

The name and ginger hair should be enough to win you over, but the 2K17 version of Bonner also can ball. His rating is not as good as it once was, but he still can shoot the corner three, plus is very cheap and obtainable immediately.

His size allows him to play at center, which is also helpful when you want to provide your big man with some rest.

Granted, he is of no help on defense, but makes up for it when allowed to shoot from far.

Just remember to call the right play to keep him from going to the basket, where he is good for a screen and not much else.
