NBA 2K18 Vs. NBA Live 18 - Which Game Is Better?
9. Progress Since The Last Instalment
The last NBA Live game, NBA Live 16, was released two years after the franchise took a hiatus following the very-flawed NBA Elite 11. This time EA Sports took a year off, regrouped and created a far superior product to the 2015 version.
NBA Live 18 feels, looks and plays better. Various aspects of gameplay, presentation or controls are so improved that there's practically no reason to revisit the previous version - this is not a step, but a leap, and what is most important, it's made in the right direction.
NBA 2K18 is also an upgrade over the previous edition, but the progress is devoted more to rosters and game modes. Graphically, the game is too similar to its predecessor to be considered a substantial improvement. The presentation and commentary are better, but they're just minor tweaks to an already established, polished product.
NBA 2K18 is a better game, but not a solid enough improvement over NBA 2K17 to be a must-buy for fans. The same can't be said of NBA Live 18, which is much better than the last entry in the franchise.
The Winner: NBA Live 18
