Netflix's Castlevania Review: 4 Ups And 1 Down

1. It's Too Short
While it's already known that yes, there will be a second season and it will probably have ten episodes, there's no denying that Castlevania feels like a prolonged trailer to a proper show rather than a full season. Some have compared it to a movie cut in 20-25 minute parts and, well, they're right, as it was first intended to be a trilogy of movies.
Warren Ellis was pitching this idea over ten years ago. And while the wait feels validated, it's hard to escape the disappointment once the series ends. Yes, it ends in the perfect moment, but it could do with a bigger, deeper backstory. Instead of jumping from 1455 straight to 1475, the story of Dracula's marriage would benefit from some exposure.
Hopefully they'll get to that in the second season.
