Nintendo Switch: 9 Things Nobody Wants To Admit

9. Forcing Voice Chat Through The Official App Is Terrible

One of the most consistently baffling decisions Nintendo has made over the years is their refusal to give us universal in-console voice chat when playing online. Unfortunately, despite actually have a form of voice chat on the Switch, it was a big step in the wrong direction.

Sure, Fortnite is a lucky exception, but as for the majority of the Switch's catalog, the Nintendo Switch app is required to talk with your friends while gaming. This is a major flaw in the system, as using the app is far too convoluted to possibly find enjoyable.

For it to work properly, your Nintendo Switch must be hooked up to a phone running the Nintendo Switch app, and that phone needs to have headphones for you to use. That's already more complication than any other console requires, but you're also likely going to want to keep your phone charged, so that adds another cord into the mix. And if you happen to get a phone call while gaming? It's all over...

Considering Discord themselves have literally offered to make an in-console app for voice chat, this one is far too easy for Nintendo to fix.
