Nintendo Switch owners hoping to get their hands on Destiny 2 have been dealt a blow as Bungie has confirmed that it is unlikely to land on the console.

Speaking to IGN, producer Mark Noseworthy said there are no plans to bring the online-only shooter to the Big N's latest console.

"I think it's pretty unrealistic, given we're an online-only game, right? [The Switch is] incredible, I love the console, but in terms of where it's at, I don't want to leave anyone with the possibility of, like, 'It's a thing we'll consider, maybe next year.' There's no plans right now for Switch."

Destiny 2 is the latest upcoming blockbuster release to swerve the Switch, with the likes of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 and Call of Duty WW2 also ruled out for the machine.

Third-party support has long been an issue for Nintendo, and although the situation appears to have improved with the launch of the Switch, its fans look set to continue missing out on some of the biggest games.

On a more positive note for the gaming giant, its latest console is performing well on the commercial front, having shipped 2.74 million units by the end of March.
