First proper look at procedural sci-fi shooter is mind-blowing.

Despite a somewhat awkward presentation at E3 by nervous lead developerSean Murray, anticipation for No Man's Sky is reaching a new kind of fever pitch. The open-universe first-person shooter/space combat/mining sim still doesn't have a release date, but that hasn't stopped fans from getting crazily excited for the PS4 exclusive. Now, Hello Games has revealed the first extended look at the game. It's amazing, right? The video above (courtesy of IGN) features eighteen minutes of uninterrupted gameplay, the most extensive look at No Man's Sky so far. €œThis is pretty average No Man's Sky action,€ says Murray, again presenting the game, which will at least net the developer the Understatement Of The Century Award if the finished product can live up to the hype. At this stage well, it almost certainly will. The video highlights the €œdiscovery€ mechanic of the game, where players land of brand new, randomly-generated planets and can name new species', mine resources, then earn money from trading supplies and information. In addition we see Murray piloting his custom space ship, dart off with a jet pack, fire a laser pistol at a goat (as you do), and then tackle flying robotic sentinels who try to keep you from killing too many things - complete with GTA-style wanted level. It's gorgeous, as action-packed as you want it to be, and looks to be one of the most inventive and unique games of the current gen. What do you make of everything that's been shown so far?
