4. How To Get a Free Freighter
Despite looking to cost several millions of credits if you talk to any captains in the early game, freighters can be acquired for free. Just keep doing missions until you at least get to the point of warping between galaxies and eventually you'll pop into one where two warring factions are dogfighting one another.
Respond to the distress call icon, take out the starfighters attacking the frigate and you should get contacted through the Quick Menu (down on the D-Pad) to dock with the lead vessel, so you can be thanked.
The cool twist, is this "thanks" is actually the ship's captain saying they're sick of the attacks and overall managing of a freighter, only to offer it up for free.
Freighters come with a pretty neat minigame where you micro-manage missions across other galaxies; retrieving elements, items and credits depending on what you prioritise. Just head into the building menu (up on the D-pad) when in the corridors of your freighter to build a Command Room, then get to work.
