Hello Games

Congratulations to the folks over at Hello Games, who after years of going from a conceptual stages to rendering, testing, demoing, press coverage and everything in between, have finally put the finishing touches on No Man's Sky.

'Going gold' is the video game equivalent of sending a magazine to the printers, and the news comes directly from an ecstatic Sean Murray, who after announcing the game was complete on Twitter, was then followed by not-so-subtle hints that the team had gone and got absolutely hammered down the local pub.

All this means that the release date of August 9th/10th (NA/EU and rest of world) is now set in stone, coming after multiple delays and bizarre no-shows (the game wasn't even at E3 this year), perhaps meaning that we can finally leave the built-up negativity behind, and enjoy the fact it'll be in your hands within a month.

In terms of gameplay, No Man's Sky has danced walked quite the line between showing and telling, the result being that it has a huge focus on exploration and charting randomly-generated planets (of which there are a few quintillion), alongside crafting components and resource management as you make your way across a literal galaxy of content.

Here's hoping that come August, it's worth the wait!
