7. Take One For The Team
Never attempt to slide tackle inside your own box unless absolutely certain that the defender's foot won't come anywhere close to the attacker's body. If even one stud touches that player's boot, then he'll tumble to the grass and the whistle-happy refs Konami employ will happily award penalties a-go-go.
Time to sound cynical. The best time to slide in is when numbers are thin at the back and the CPU is looking to break through on goal with a slick ball out wide. At that point, feel free to crash into them, take one for the team and accept a booking as punishment.
It's better than being ripped open, at least.
PES 2019 doesn't get the art of a well-timed slide tackle. Even masterful defensive displays are penalised with free kicks or penalties, and that means they're only handy when you want to spoil the opposition's plans.
