3. The Exclusives Weren€™t That Impressive

For most people in this economy, picking a console depends on three things: exclusive games, features, and price. And while we did get some inklings of the first two at this press conference, the exclusives didn€™t seem all that compelling from a non-Sony fanboy point of view. That€™s not to say most didn€™t look good €“ but even though the PS4 seems to be getting iterations of old IPs meant to be accessible to newcomers and whole new IPs that might have promise, the fact is that Sony didn€™t really do a good job of making them seem interesting. After all, how many racing games have we seen? Or fantasy games with fire breathing dragons? Or scifi games that use shooting and/or superpowers? If anything, the one game that stood out was Knack, and that was because it had a less realistic aesthetic. If this is all we€™re getting during the PS4€™s launch window and the first few months after that, Sony might have trouble winning over gamers that aren€™t convinced by the multiplatform games.
