3. Ryan Reynolds Might Be Miscast
There were a lot of raised eyebrows when Ryan Reynolds was cast to play Detective Pikachu, because while his incongruous-sounding voice is exactly the point, it just feels like a bit of a mistake to cast an actor whose voice is so recognisable in another property.
It's hard to hear Pikachu talk in this trailer and not think of Deadpool, and while that should result in some hilarious fan edits when people decide to pipe Deadpool's vulgar dialogue into this movie, it's honestly a bit distracting.
Perhaps it'll play better in the final movie, but for now, it feels like Warner Bros. hired him for slightly cynical reasons, with his voice being such a successful component of his hit superhero franchise.
After all, could one man voicing Deadpool and Pikachu simply be too much for audiences to handle?
