Speaking of gyms, the current setup isn't TOO bad if the servers are up, but it always boils down to tapping your Pokémon as fast as possible, occasionally attempting to dodge if you think you can avoid a special attack.

Basically, it's about as far away from being turn-based as Donald Trump and Theresa May are respectable human beings, and that needs to change, pronto.

The foundations of an incredible battling system are already there in terms of certain types gaining the advantage, and Niantic could even keep the 'swipe to dodge' option when you're on the receiving end if they liked, but whatever happens, battles should feel way more tactile and considered than they do right now.
