6. Some Pokémon Need Specific Items To Evolve

One mechanic taken from the games is the introduction of special items that certain Pokémon require to evolve. The item itself doesn't trigger the evolution, but will need to be in your inventory when you cash in your candies.

The items are available at Pokéstops in the usual manner and are, as you'd imagine, very rare.

Gloom to Bellossom: Sun Stone + 100 Oddish candies

Poliwhirl to Politoed: King's Rock + 100 Poliwag candies

Slowpoke to Slowking: King's Rock + 50 Slowpoke candies

Onix to Steelix: Metal Coat + 50 Onix candies

Seadra to Kingdra: Dragon Scale + 100 Horsea candies

Scyther to Scizor: Metal Coat + 50 Scyther candies

Porygon to Porygon 2: Up-Grade + 50 Porygon candies
